49ers - NOTE: CHANGE OF
TIME AND DATE
October 6th at 5:30pm we will have a potluck and a program. The program will
be about the trip Ray and Liz Eastberg and Lloyd and Marge Spawn took to
Alaska this summer. Lloyd and Marge drove by RV to Calgary, then on to
Banff, Jasper, Hinton, the Alaskan Highway for 1422 miles to Haines
Junction, on to Fairbanks and Anchorage. Liz and Ray flew to Anchorage,
where they
took the RV, and went to Kenai Peninsula, Homer, Seward and then through
Alaska, Canada and home. Meanwhile, Lloyd and Marge took four ferries ending
up in Seattle, via Victoria BC on their way home. Between the Eastberg’s and
Spawn’s they traveled over 16,000 miles. So, come see their pictures and
hear their stories.
A Life Worth Leading
(Small Group Ministry)
A Life Worth Leading is a gathering of people who meet together on a
regular basis with a common purpose of growing in their relationship with
Jesus
Christ and with each other. Groups range in size from 3 -15 people. A Life
Worth Leading Groups typically spend their time building relationships,
learning
and growing in faith and in the knowledge of God's Word, laughing and having
fun, caring for one another, praying together, serving others, and last but
not
least - eating! Whether you are new to the congregation or have been around
for awhile, A Life Worth Leading group is one of the best places to take the
time
to talk to each other in meaningful ways, learn and pray together, and share
one
another's lives.
This year's theme for A Life Worth Leading is Spiritual Disciplines. There
will be Sunday opportunities for you to sign up to become part of a group of
people who share a common interest. The group topics include: Prayer,
Laughter, Parenting, Journaling & Meditation Practices, and Experiencing God
in
Nature.
What do you Need to Know to Participate in a Group?
• Pray, asking for God’s guidance in joining a group.
• Sign up for the group that interests you on the Sunday Stewardship Insert.
• Come to Shepherd of the Hills and bring a dish to share on Saturday,
September 23 at 6:00 p.m. for Dinner and Fellowship as we begin a
new year of A Life Worth Leading Small Group Ministry.
• On September 23 the members of each group will meet one another and
decide on the time and location of future meetings.
• Each group will receive a list of resources from which to choose a book to
help facilitate conversation, learning and growth.
If you have questions, call Deaconess Brenda at the church.
